Final thoughts on SPIG

The 2019 Summer Program in Germany was an unforgettable experience.

While in Germany, we took the course Engineering 202: Statics and Dynamics. This course was very interesting to me, especially since I am interested in civil engineering. The professors we had were both very good at teaching and helping students through the course. We also took a German language course from a TU Berlin Professor. He taught us many useful words and phrases that helped us navigate Berlin and do simple tasks such as order food or buy groceries much more easily. Berlin was a wonderful city. It always felt safe and clean, the people were friendly, and the public transportation was excellent. On the weekends, we took trips to other beautiful cities around Germany such as Heidelberg, Cologne, Bremen, and Wittenberg. The final week of the trip was free and I was able to travel to Prague, Munich, and Salzberg. I was also able to hike up two mountains in the Alps. One of the best parts of the trip, however, was all the friendships formed. After spending six weeks together, we got to know each other very well. I know that the some of the friendships will last far longer than the six weeks we spent together in Germany.
