“Tell us about your Trip….”

Short Answer: Amazing!

Long Answer:

Going to Germany was one of the best choices I have made in a long time. On top of making some great new friends and traveling around Europe with them, I also learned a lot about engineering, languages, history, and a fair amount about myself.

To recap the basic summary of the trip, I took one week of Engineering class at Calvin where I also got to celebrate Calvin’s transition to a University and all the other exciting new developments and construction. I then traveled to Berlin where I continued the Engineering class with the same American Professors at TU Berlin. I also took a German class with a German professor where I learned a lot, most notably a fair amount of slang that made day to day life in Berlin easier. Classes ran Monday to Thursday and were done by 3:00ish leaving weekends for fun group trips to places like Cologne and Bremen and the afternoons free to explore Berlin with friends. The last week of the program was completely open to the students so I and three friends traveled around and hit spots in Switzerland, Germany, Belgium, and the Netherlands. It was ridiculously fun but also a great learning experience to make these travel plans.

I really enjoyed both of the classes. The German class was very relaxed and fun and included a couple of adventures around the city. The Engineering class always seems to include a interesting story or funny joke. I really enjoyed the topic of Statics and Dynamics and found it fascinating.

Honestly, the last week was probably my favorite, especially our stop in the Black Forest, but the entire trip was amazing. I cannot recommend this trip enough to anyone even remotely tempted.  As cheesy as it sounds, this will definitely be something I will remember fondly for the rest of my life.
