Why I decided to participate in this program

I decided to participate in this Summer program because the idea of studying engineering in Germany, one of the leading countries in technology and engineering, was intriguing to me. I hope that when I am in Germany, I will be able to develop a closer relationship with professors and friends while we learn about engineering not only through textbooks but also outside in the field. I hope to be able to see the practical use of the material we learn in class. I also hope to use my strength of positivity and hard work by studying with other students and maintaining good atmosphere.

Elevator speech

A lot of people might wonder or ask me how was Germany. My short answer to this is for sure it was fantastic! However, they might want to hear more detail about my trip like what is culture like at Germany, what is your favorite food, what did you learn, etc…

First thing that I want to share is culture part. Germany has really good public transportation culture so you can easily get to any places in Germany by public transportation. Also Germany seems to very open to immigration and accepts a lot of people from other countries.

Food is another important thing that people might ask frequently. My favorite German food is definitely “Doner Kebab.” It is traditional German food with bread and either chicken or beef inside with lettuces and your choice of sauces. It is very delicious so I would recommend it if anyone visit Germany to try that food.

Lastly, I learn a lot both academically and culturally. I learn Engineering 202 which is my first 200 level of engineering. I learned part of history  of Germany and how they still acknowledge the history and apologize to Jews what they did in past. They make museums of their shameful history to remember and perhaps not do this again. I respect that and I do agree with them. “Countries without knowing its history has no future.”

Reflection on Bremen

Bremen is one of 16 states in Germany. In fact, it is a very small state but has highly dense population. When I get there it made sense why a lot of people want to live their. The city itself is very gorgeous.

In Bremen, you can find their famous status of animals which represents Bremen’s funny tale story. what I really liked in there is Bremen town. Stores and cities are very gorgeous and people seem to be nice.

Elevator Pitch

Germany is a place of wonderful food, great people and amazing sights. Berlin especially was extremely diverse with several immigrants who have been welcomed to the city. This engineering trip proved to be an amazing experience where you will create close relationships and eat delicious food. The trip also proved that survival is definitely for the fittest since you will learn how to properly budget so you don’t run out of money for food. Despite the fact that we were in Germany for class, there was never a day that we didn’t do something exciting or saw something interesting.

As a part of the trip we were given the chance to explore Europe with our train passes . This was a tremendous experience. In my last week, I travelled from Berlin, Germany to Paris, France and then to Prague, Czech Republic. I have had some really great experiences.

Reflection on Koln

When we arrived to koln, I was shocked by this giant cathedral building truly looked grand and magnificent to me. It made me wonder how long it took for them to complete the building and how they design such a cool building like this.

The Koln cathedral was a lot different than my home church. It was a lot bigger and has more tradition service than my home church. I would say it was very unique experience. Surprisingly, I really liked the traditional service that they had.

When I saw all these many tourists waiting to get into the church when we were leaving the service, made me sad cause I wanted people to go to church and have more interested in God than the old building that men made.

This is one of my favorite pictures from the trip , it was the last thing we did as a group and it was the perfect way to end the trip
this is a picture of a doner teller, one of the many delights I enjoyed during the trip
This is the view from the city center In Amsterdam. We had the opportunity to travel around Europe after classes were done. It was an enjoyable experience and one I will never forget.

Importance of religion

In a country with so many elaborate churches, why do you think religion has lost its importance and does not appeal to people like it used to? Do you think this could happen to the USA in the future? Why or why not?

Globalization whether positively or negatively has brought about the increase in knowledge and appreciation of many if not all culture, religions and beliefs. Globalization has allowed for travel, immigration and assimilation into other cultures. As time has gone on it has bred a more religiously diverse community.

Additionally, I think as time has gone on, humans have become more and more prone do engage in worldly endeavors. As a result people become more and more distant from the church.

I believe it will happen as time goes on but its up to us to strengthen our religious roots and make sure we do not lose sight of what most important, setting on a pathway to heaven.

Living in Germany

In the picture above lies everyone who lived in my room while at the Heim  plus Felicia who stays in our room more than her own. We had became so close in only a couple of weeks living together. We were so close that we all chose to wear black and white on the same day without planning it. We stayed together for most of the time ensuring that we looked out for each other. My Elevator Speech

Germany was a really interesting experience. Honestly, it would be an interesting experience for a lot of people due to tot the fact that you are in a place with a different culture and beliefs compared to where we come from. I love the fact that the places in Germany are made of cement and brick instead of wood and metal, unlike the US. I love their food especially the donner kebabs, being tasty, healthy and cheap. Some interesting things which I questioned in the trip were why beer was cheaper than water, why you have to pay to use a public bathroom, why you have to pay for ketchup and why to pay for a bag in the grocery store. Apart from that, I could honestly say that I loved Germany so much that I could see myself living there.

During the trip, we lived in a hotel which looked like a castle and went to many places. The favorite places we went to was in Heidelberg and Koln. The main reason because we lived in a 4.3-star hotel and a hotel 4.5-star hotel. We saw a lot of churches of course but what piqued my interest was how they each church we went to be unique in how it looks the history they had. We also went to the concentration camps, and honestly, that was a place I thought I would never go to. I have about them. Going over there made me feel different from reading about it. Being over there made me be sad, angry and disappointed in humankind for obvious reasons.

The Engr 202 class and the German class we took during the trip were great. I was really surprised that we managed to finish the Engr 202 class and understood the course within 5 weeks. Although there were times we had to stay up at night to understand and finish the homework. It was also nice to know people and make a lot of friends during the trip.

So in conclusion, Germany was worth it.
